From innocent beginnings to long distance relationship and hardships: Bhuvneshwar Kumar's love story is nothing short of a romantic Bollywood movie

SportsTak

Popularly known as the 'Swing King', Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s contribution to Indian cricket has been phenomenal and his growth in all three formats has been evident. The Indian pacer may have dismissed many great batters on the cricket field, but do you know who has clean-bowled the frontline pacer in his personal life? The person in reference is Nupur Nagar, his first love. Aren't you curious to know about how they met? Where they met? And, how Bhuvneshwar popped the question? Here are all the answers about Bhuvneshwar’s love life.

Bhuvneshwar and Nupur met at a very young age. At just 13 years of age, their journey started as friends. Both of them felt an instant connection and little did they know that they will take vows to spend their life together. Nupur and Bhuvi's love story is quite similar to a 90s Bollywood movie. The couple lived in the same colony and were good friends before their love story began.

In an interview, Nupur revealed that both of them used to play together. In a twist of events, she also said that their relationship was more like brother and sister in childhood. But later they became good friends and then dwelled feelings for each other. More than a decade and half later in 2017, both ended up getting married.

Who proposed first?
Bhuvneshwar looks very calm on the cricket field. Unlike a typical fast bowler, you see the very little expression on his face whether he gets hit for a boundary or takes a wicket. But you will be surprised to know that Bhuvneshwar was the first to take initiative. Just like how he never gives up on the field he never gave up in real life as well. A persistent Bhuvneshwar proposed to Nupur thrice and after some time she finally said yes. Their love story is very special and quite Bollywoodesque. The real journey began when Bhuvneshwar was struggling to excel as a cricketer but Nupur never left his side.

And like any prominent movie they had to face hardships too. While Bhuvneshwar played Ranji for Uttar Pradesh he had to travel a lot and that kept the couple quite apart. While in a long distance relationship, there was a time when both of them even stopped talking. Like a Bollywood love story, their love had a happy ending too. They worked things out between and came out strong from tough situations.

Getting Married
After being in a relationship for years, both decided to tie the knot. Bhuvneshwar had said in an interview that for the first three to four years, our parents had no idea about us dating. I went with the flow and kept it a secret as I was skeptical about opening up to them. "They came to know about us from a third person and I was glad that it happened as I had been scared of opening up to them," the pacer said.

Bhuvneshwar also revealed that he got married only after his parents approved of their relationship. Nupur is a software engineer by profession and before her parents could interview Bhuvi, Nupur herself interviewed him. Bhuvi stated that I am a cricketer by profession to which she replied that it is fine as a hobby but what will the job do? Bhuvneshwar then explained to her how cricket works in India. He stated how playing Ranji can earn him a spot in the Indian team. Nupur agreed to this and stayed by his side.

With the blessings of their family, the duo got married in the year 2017. Many Indian cricketers attended their wedding. The likes of Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, and Rohit Sharma were the major invitees to the event. It would come as a shocker but Nupur isn't a huge fan of cricket. But as the love of her life is so passionate about this sport, she keeps a check on his performance. In an interview, she rated Bhuvneshwar's bowling spell against Pakistan in 2012 as her favorite. When Bhuvneshwar made his debut, Nupur was an engineering student and used to live in a hostel. When Nupur first saw Bhuvneshwar in the Indian team jersey she realised why he was rated as the most talented individual in his family.
