Sam Curran has been a revelation for England this T20 World Cup 2022. Curran read the conditions well and played his role with perfection to become England's trump card in T20 World Cup 2022. The left-arm pacer continued his run in the final too with three wickets for 12 runs in his quota of four overs. For his exceptional performance, he was awarded the player of the match but the all-rounder was not happy and wanted Ben Stokes to get it for his unbeaten 52-run knock under pressure.

“I don't think I should be getting this, I think the way Ben Stokes played there, to get a fifty in a final and he does it so many times for us, he should get this (PoTM),” the 24-year-old told broadcasters after England’s second T20 World Cup triumph.

Curran was also adjudged the Player of the series for taking 13 wickets from six appearances at an average of 11.38 and an economy rate of 6.52 runs per over. He also took a five-wicket haul against Afghanistan in the Super 12 stage. The southpaw explained how he was able to outsmart Pakistan batters at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

“Big square boundaries, so I knew my into the wicket type bowling would work and try to make them hit square of the wicket. We felt the wicket was not as good as we thought it would be. It was nipping around everywhere and it was challenge to chase. I go into the wicket with my slower balls and try to keep the batsmen guessing. We are World Champions, how good,” he explained.

Curran was in awe of Stokes who held on to his nerves despite scoring well below run-a-ball in middle overs and accelerating in the slog overs.

“Incredibly special (to have Stokes). He is someone I look up to and always turns up when the team needs him, people question him but there's no questioning him, he's the man. To be honest, I am little bit lost for words, it has been a great tournament,” the further added.
