'Kohli might just take retirement after the T20 World Cup': Legendary Pakistan bowler makes a bold prediction

Former India captain Virat Kohli roared back to form after putting on a stunning display of stroke-making in the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2022. The maverick batter rolled back the clock and played a vintage knock in India's last match of the campaign against Afghanistan to end his 1,019-day century drought. In what was an imperious knock from start to finish, Kohli smashed 122 not out in 61 balls with the help of 12 boundaries and six sixes.

The swashbuckling Indian batter finished the tournament as the second-leading run-scorer with 276 runs in five matches. With two big-ticket ICC tournaments fast approaching, one being just over a month away, Kohli regaining his lost mojo comes as pleasant news for Team India and its fans.

While Kohli fans are still celebrating the batter's return to form and waiting for the maverick batter to continue his assault on opposition bowlers, former Pakistan bowler Shoaib Akhtar has made a jarring prediction about the future of Kohli in the shortest format of the game.

"Kohli might just take retirement after the T20 World Cup. He may do that to extend his longevity in the other formats. If I was him, I would have looked at the larger picture and taken a call," Akhtar said in a live session hosted by India.com.

The former India captain has to play a major role in the upcoming T20 World Cup in order to help the Men in Blue clinch the multi-national title in the shortest format of the game, one which they last won in 2007 in South Africa.
