England routed India in the second semifinal of the 2022 T20 World Cup to confirm their place in the final of the marquee event where they will face Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, November 13. The Three Lions were exceptional with both ball and bat and chased down the target of 168 balls without losing even a single wicket!

The team's former Test skipper Joe Root, who was also a part of the England side that lost the 2016 T20 World Cup final in Kolkata in a very dramatic fashion to West Indies, believes that this is England's chance to do something special as a group.

"It's another opportunity to do something really special as a group. Those experiences can really bring you together as a team. You learn from them, the mistakes you have made, and you learn from the day. The occasion is not completely new to you," Root explained in an interview with Sky Sports.

Root was a part of the England side that won the 2019 World Cup at Lord's as well. Speaking from his personal experiences, he opined that the Three Lions were in a good position heading into the ultimate encounter of the tournament. "I found that going into 2019 so it's good to have that in the bank. It's a really good place to be for the team and I am really excited [to watch them].

He also heaped praise on the team, saying that this side is just peaking and a lot more can be expected from them. "It was an incredible performance against India. I think we're just starting to peak at the right time. As a team performance, you can't really ask for any more in a semi-final. To stand up to the pressures of a game of that magnitude and perform like that was exceptional," he said.

Root reserved special praise for Jos Buttler for England's form, "Credit to Jos for being able to get us in this position to be peaking at the right time. He looks very happy within himself and you can see that in his performances and the players around him."
