For thousands of budding cricketers in the country, MS Dhoni holds a special place in their hearts. Several young cricketers try to emulate the former World Cup-winning captain's style, be it in batting, wicket-keeping or leadership. But whom did Dhoni idolise while growing up? What is the name of that cricketer that fancies MS Dhoni the most? Well, the legendary cricketer himself has revealed the name of his cricketing role model.

In a video shared by the Chennai Super Kings on their social media handles across platforms, Dhoni revealed that he always wanted to bat like Sachin Tendulkar.

"My cricketing role model is always Sachin Tendulkar. I was exactly like you guys. We used to watch Sachin play and I want to play like him. Later on, I realised that I can’t play like him, but deep inside in my heart, I always wanted to play like him. So, he was a cricketing idol growing up," Dhoni said.

Dhoni and Sachin played together for a very long time and it was under the former's leadership that the latter realised his dream of winning the ODI World Cup when India clinched the title at home in 2011.

The former India captain recently inaugurated the Super Kings Academy at the MS Dhoni Global School in Hosur. During an interaction with the kids, Dhoni also reflected on his school life and delivered a nugget of wisdom for the excited young fans.

"Always felt school was the period where once you have a strong character, it stays with you for a very long time and it actually defines you. Make the most of the time that you have right now. Make the most of all the infrastructure that is around you," he added.
