The star-studded Team India is all set to get after the elusive T20 World Cup 2022's title as they kick off their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 23 (Sunday).
The Super 12 fixtures are out after the conclusion of T20 World Cup 2022's qualifiers which saw Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Ireland and Zimbabwe progress to the main campaign of the marquee tournament which will commence from October 22. However, the two-time T20 World Cup champions West Indies failed to make it to the Super 12 fixture following their lacklustre performance in the qualifiers.
After conclusion of Group A and Group B matches, the eight teams for Super-12 had been already decided. The remaining four vacant spots have now been acquired by Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Zimbabwe and Ireland.
The top team from Group A and the team on second position from Group B reached Group 1, while the second ranked team from Group A and the top team from Group B made it to Group 2. Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh were already in Group 2 along with India and now Netherlands and Zimbabwe have joined their group.
The T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 stage will get underway on Saturday (October 22) with defending champions Australia taking on New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground. On the same day, England will take on Mohammad Nabi-led Afghanistan. Rohit Sharma-led Team India will begin their T20 World Cup campaign on Sunday against arch-rival Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The 2007 T20 World Cup champions will look to kickstart their campaign on a good note. After the match against Pakistan, the side will square off against the Netherlands. Then on October 30, Team India will clash against the Proteas.
