Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India's squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia on Tuesday (September 13) which saw the return of team's prime speedster Jasprit Bumrah after a brief halt from injury.

On September 14 (Wednesday), Bumrah uploaded a video on his Instagram handle where he was seen breaking his sweat as he is preparing for the marquee tournament.

The 28-year-old has been a key performer for India across all three formats and recently, also captained the national team against England in the rescheduled fifth Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

However, he missed the just concluded Asia Cup due to a back injury. Men in Blue missed his services badly as they suffered an early ouster from the tournament after succumbing to Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super Four stage.

The pacer is set to make his comeback in the upcoming three-match T20I series against Australia to be played from September 20. Bumrah reckoned that one has to work out of their skins to achieve their goals.

Bumrah captioned the video and wrote, “Work and you’ll get what you need; work hard and you’ll get what you want.

Apart from the Australia, Bumrah will also ply his trade in the three-match T20I series against South Africa.

Back injury is not something new to Bumrah as in 2019 as well, he suffered a similar problem. The 28-year-old had last featured for India during the third ODI match against England in July.

Prior to the injury, Bumrah scalped 15 wickets across all three formats against England. He also registered a five-wicket haul in the first ODI against England at Lord’s. Though, he was not named in the squad for the West Indies and Zimbabwe series.

Apart from Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and Harshal Patel are also not available in the Asia Cup squad. Harshal was ruled out after suffering a rib injury last month. He was named in India’s T20I squad for the West Indies series but the injury forced him out.

Bumrah is only the third Indian bowler after Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan to pick up a hat-trick in Test cricket.
