In the age of social media, no deed goes unnoticed. Especially when it comes to cricketers, they have cameras on them all the time. But Ravichandran Ashwin found himself in front of the camera at an awkward moment. As Rohit Sharma talked to the broadcaster after winning the toss against Zimbabwe, in the background, Ashwin was seen identifying his sweatshirt by smelling the two that were on the ground.

The video of Ashwin’s unique way of identifying his clothes has went viral on social media.

Against Zimbabwe, Ashwin registered his best bowling display in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. The veteran off-spinner took three wickets and conceded 22 runs in his quota of four overs to help India bundle out the opposition for 115 in the 18th over.

Ashwin’s victims on November 6 at Melbourne Cricket Ground were Ryan Burl, Wellington Masakadza and Richard Ngarava.

So far, Ashwin has taken six wickets from five games at the Super 12 stage. With the bat, he scored the important single against Pakistan off the final ball of the run chase to win the game. Also, against Bangladesh, he played a 13-run cameo.

So far, Ashwin has been picked over leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. In addition to his off-spin, Ashwin also adds depth to India’s batting.

Before India's last Super 12 game, Ashwin talked about over dependency on matchups in the modern game.

"I don't think players innately have to necessarily believe in matchups, but I think it's an area that teams and tactical edges are happening around," Ashwin said in the press conference before Zimbabwe match.

"I think it's safe to say that one end of the spectrum is to plan for all those things (match-ups), but as a bowler you need to constantly bowl to a lot of batters.”

"I think it is a feature that's existing, and it is definitely being developed. As a playing unit, to only believe in that and say this guy will bowl to this person, you can't work like that. But I think it's giving a tactical edge to teams," the bowling all-rounder added.
