Australia's star batter David Warner got dismissed in a bizarre fashion in the T20 World Cup clash against Afghanistan on Friday (November 4) which left everyone bemused.
With this the southpaw entered the book of freakish dismissals in the cricket history after he was castled by Afghanistan pacer Naveen-Ul-Haq's in the crucial Group 1 tie.
Batting first, Australia were off to a patch start, losing their opener - Cameron Green early in the game. Warner and Marsh tried to steady Australia's boat by charging on Afghanistan bowling attack and searched for some quick runs after being sent to bat first. A spirited Warner found it a little hard to get going despite scoring a few boundaries and decided to try a few things out.
While batting against pacer Naveen-ul-Haq in the final over of the powerplay, Warner switched to a right handed grip. However, that was not enough to throw off Naveen as the bowler seared in a length delivery, aimed at the top of off stump. Warner, with a wrong handed grip, could not do much about it and saw his off stump getting uprooted by the ball.
25 off 18 was all that Warner could muster in what can turn out to potentially be his last game in this T20 World Cup. If this is the final game, it would end a forgetful campaign for the best batter of the last edition of the tournament, having scored 5, 11 and 3 runs in his previous three matches in the tournament.
