Virat Kohli's remarkable fielding and Mohammed Shami's deadly yorkers turned the complexion of the game as India stormed back to steal a victory from the jaws of defeat against Australia in the warm-up match on October 17 (Monday). Needing 11 runs off the last over, Shami nailed one yorker after another and bagged three wickets in the over to bundle out the Baggy Greens for 180 runs. Australia lost four consecutive wickets in the last four balls of the match, with one wicket coming in the form of a run-out.

After being asked to bat first, the Men in Blue posted 186/7 in 20 overs with KL Rahul (57 runs off 33 balls) and Suryakumar Yadav (50 runs off 33 balls) scoring attractive half-centuries.

Talking about Suryakumar, the right-hander once again looked in tremendous touch with the bat as he stroked six fours and a six during his terrific knock. During his time in the middle, the Mumbai Indian's batter was heard saying 'maarne ka mood nahi ho raha hai' on the stump mic and on the very next ball, he was dismissed caught and bowl by Kane Richardson.

The fearless right-handed batter has been in scintillating form in the shortest format of the game in 2022. He is the second leading run-scorer in T20Is this year with 801 runs to his name in 23 matches. His strike rate of 184.56 is a testament to how he has dominated bowling attacks by playing audacious shots. He has also smashed 51 sixes, which is the most by any batter in a calendar year in T20Is.

Rohit Sharma's brigade will now lock horns against New Zealand in their second and last warm-up match on October 19 (Wednesday) before starting their T20 World Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 23 (Sunday) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
