After suffering jolt from Australia, India women rode on Parshavi Chopra's incredible spell to bulldoze Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the Under-19 T20 World Cup match on Sunday (January 22). With this victory, Shafali Verma-led India are still alive in the race to semifinal.

Parshavi with a sensational spell of 4/5 bamboozled Sri Lankan batters as the Islanders were bowled out after posting a lowly total of 59/9 in 20 overs. In reply, India made the light work of the paltry target with seven wickets to spare.

India couldn't have got a better start as Titas Sadhu struck with a first-ball wickets wile Mannat Kashyap doubled it up in the second over.  Kashyap trapped Dewmi Vihanga lbw to lead to a top-order collapse.

And then came Parshavi, who tore into Sri Lanka's batting line up and annihilated. Her intense four overs put Sri Lankan batters in all sorts of bother as she left no chance for the opposition to revive. The spinner first bowled the Sri Lankan captain Vishmi Gunaratne, who was trying to stand at one end while wickets fell on the other end. Vishmi managed 25 off 28, which were nearly half of her team’s total. Chopra ended up with stunning figures of 4-1-5-4.

Shafali Verma began the chase in style with her 15 off 10 but fell lbw by Dewmi Vihanga, who also dismissed Richa Ghosh in the same over.

Shweta Sehrawat and Soumya Tiwari anchored the chase with boundaries to score a win in the eight over.
