Australia wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy scripted multiple records in Women’s World Cup on April 3 (Sunday) after scoring 170 runs off 138 balls against England in the final of the ongoing edition of ICC Women’s World Cup.
Remarkable batting display
Healy became the first cricketer in the history of World Cup to score 150 or more runs in a World Cup final. The 32-year-old cricketer also became the first woman to score 500 or more runs in a single edition of the tournament. Previously, New Zealand cricketer Debbie Hockley had scored 456 runs during the 1997 World Cup.
Another Australia opening batter Rachael Haynes scored 68 runs against England in the final match of the ongoing Women’s World Cup. This terrific knock helped Haynes to overcome Hockley and claim the second spot in the elite list. Haynes scored 497 runs in the Women’s World Cup 2022 and Healy on the other hand scored 509 runs.
Healy, also became only the second cricketer to score a hundred in the Women’s World Cup final. Previously, Australia cricketer Karen Rolton had scored a century in the World Cup final.
Australia's terrific batting
In the 2022 Women’s World Cup final against England, Healy smashed 26 boundaries. Australia’s solid opening partnership of 160 runs was ultimately broken by England spinner Sophie Ecclestone. The 22-year-old spinner picked up the wicket of Haynes in the 30th over of the match. Later, England pacer Anya Shrubsole dismissed Healy in the 30th over of the innings.
Australia's Beth Mooney scored 62 runs off 47 balls to help her side in reaching a huge total of 356/5 in 50 overs. Her innings was comprised of eight boundaries. The 28-year-old Australia batter was dismissed by Shrubsole in the 48th over of the innings.
Shrubsole claimed three wickets in the match for the England team. On the other hand, Ecclestone picked up one wicket in the match.
But the English team will undoubtedly be unhappy with their bowling performance after their bowlers conceded 14 runs as wide in the final match of World Cup. In total, the defending champions conceded 20 extra runs.
Earlier, in the semi-final of the Women's World Cup 2022, Australia beat West Indies by 157 runs. In the second semi-final, England had registered a convincing victory against South Africa. The defending champions had won the semi-final fixture by 137 runs.
