Mithali Raj-led India will start their World Cup 2022 campaign with high voltage clash against arch-rivals Pakistan. India will play their first game in the Women's World Cup 2022 on March 6 (Sunday) at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. It will be the last World Cup tournament for veterans Mithali and fast-bowling spearhead Jhulan Goswami.
Inaugural match
The opening fixture of the Women’s World Cup will see hosts New Zealand take on West Indies on March 4. The inaugural match of the World Cup will take place at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui.
In the second match of the grand tournament, the Indian women’s team will clash against the hosts New Zealand. The match is slated to be played on March 10, at the Seddon Park, in Hamilton. India were recently beaten in the five-ODI series. New Zealand registered four consecutive wins despite India posting a challenging total in two ODIs. India saved themselves from getting whitewashed with a win in the final ODI of the series.
In the third match of the World Cup campaign, Indian team will face West Indies team on March 12, at the Seddon Park, in Hamilton.
The fourth match of the event will surely turn out to be a pretty difficult fixture for Indian side as they will face the defending champions England on March 16, at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. India missed out on their maiden World Cup Trophy as they faced a narrow defeat at the hands of England in the 2017 edition's final.
Another mighty clash
In the fifth match of the Women’s World Cup 2022, Indian team will take on another mighty opponent Australia, at the Eden Park, Auckland, on March 19. In the last edition's World Cup, the Indian team had defeated Australia in the semi-final. Harmanpreet Kaur hit the iconic unbeaten 171 in a rain-curtailed game.
In the sixth match of the 2022 World Cup, India will play against Bangladesh, on March 22, at the Seddon Park, in Hamilton.
Indian team’s final group stage match is scheduled to be against South Africa on March 28, at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch.
