A few members of Team India have arrived in England as the side have begun their preparations for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) Final. Amidst this, the BCCI announced Adidas as their new jersey sponsor, with the apex cricket council releasing photos of how the training kits of the team will look like.
"Unveiling #TeamIndia's new training kit. Also, kickstarting our preparations for the #WTCFinal," BCCI's social media handles posted, photos of players and support staff, including head coach Rahul Dravid, batting coach Vikram Rathour and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey.
Among the players, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer Umesh Yadav was also clicked in the new jersey, in what will definitely be a boost to the side.
“The fast bowler is currently under the care of the KKR Medical Team and has started low-intensity bowling as part of his rehab process. The BCCI Medical Team is in regular touch with KKR Medical Team and is closely monitoring Umesh’s progress,” the BCCI had earlier said in a statement.
In the pictures was his KKR teammate Shardul Thakur as well, with the duo wearing sweatshirts to battle the cold of the English weather.
Earlier, BCCI secretary Ja Shah confirmed that Adidas will design and manufacture jerseys, kits, and other goods for India's men's, women's, and Under-19 teams. The famous sportswear brand then confirmed the same with a video message for the fans.
"We are committed to helping grow the game of cricket and could not be more excited to partner with one of the world's leading sportswear brands, Adidas, in this journey," Jay Shah added in a BCCI statement.
Killer Jeans, who were manufacturing the kits for the Indian team, will have its contract expire on May 31, after which the Adidas deal will take effect.
Prior to Killer Jeans, MPL was India's kit sponsor. Killer, a clothing brand, took over the kit sponsorship from MPL, which wanted to end its contract, which was set to expire in 2023. For a three-year deal, MPL paid the Indian board 6.5 lakh per match and 9 crores in royalties.
