Australia emerged victorious on Day 5 of the World Test Championship (WTC) final against India as they bundled the side for 234 in the second innings. Team India lost seven wickets for 70 runs in the first session of the ultimate Test and in doing so, handed the trophy to Australia.

This is also a special moment for the Australian cricket team. After winning the World Test Championship (WTC) mace, they have become the first international cricket team to win all the available ICC trophies. They now have nine ICC titles, having won their first back in 1987 under Allan Border.

Which trophies have Australia won?

The Men in Yellow have won the ODI World Cup five times, the most by any team. They have also won the ICC Champions Trophy twice — in 2006 and 2009, while their T20 World Cup victory came as recently as 2021, under the captaincy of Aaron Finch.

ICC ODI World Cup wins: 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015.
ICC Champions Trophy: 2006, 2009
ICC T20 World Cup: 2021

About Day 5 of the World Test Championship final

Chasing 444, and 280 on the final day of the Test, the Indian batting lost seven wickets for 55 runs to gift their opponents the match. Despite a slow yet promising start, Boland was spot-on with his setup and pitched it a bit fuller to lure Kohli (49) into a shot away from his body. The inside edge was certain and Steve Smith took a screamer at second slip to disappoint the population of over a billion.

Ajinkya Rahane (46) kept India's hopes up after Nathan Lyon forced Jadeja into an outside edge which landed safely in Alex Carey’s gloves in the same over that Kohli was dismissed. He returned back for a duck. Soon, Rahane's gutsy knock ended with a foolish shot off Mitchell Starc's bowling, and with it, India’s hopes were dashed as well.

Shardul Thakur could not replicate his heroics from the first innings and was caught LBW by Lyon. Then Srikar Bharat took the aerial route but the ball could not even cross the pitch as Lyon took a catch of his bowling. Shami hit a couple of boundaries and saw a review decision saved, but it was a little too late. Siraj's mistimed shot found a fielder as Lyon as India got all out for 234.
