Team India have another headache just a week ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Tropy 2024-25 opener. During the match simulation in Perth on November 16, top-order batter Shubman Gill injured his finger while fielding in the slip cordon.

As per a report by TOI, Gill has not been ruled out of the first Test at Optus Stadium, Perth.

Earlier, there were a few concerns around Virat Kohli as well but he was cleared after the scans. However, there is no further information regarding KL Rahul who was hit on the elbow by a rising delivery from Prasidh Krishna and did not take further part in the match simulations.

While there were doubts over Rohit Sharma's availability for the Perth Test, Rahul was one of the contenders to open the innings. After disappointing scores for India A, he looked in good touch during the match simulations before getting injured. Also, Abhimanyu Easwaran is yet to showcase his talent on Australian soil and hasn't instilled confidence to be Yashasvi Jaiswal's opening partner.

Meanwhile, Rohit and wife Ritika Sajdeh welcome their baby boy on November 15. The couple made the official announcement on November 16. Rohit is likely to be available for the Perth Test and lead Team India.

Earlier on Day 1 of match simulations, Gill was dismissed down the leg side as he edged one to wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan. He returned to bat and remained unbeaten for 42 at the end of the day's play.
