In what appears to be a new injury scare for India heading into the fourth Test match against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, KL Rahul, who is the most successful batter for the Rohit Sharma-led side in this series was spotted receiving some medical attention for his arm in the nets while batting. Three games into the Boxing Day Test, the series is tied at one each.
KL Rahul spotted having treatment on arm
Rahul was seen carrying a bat in one hand while undergoing treatment on his right hand in the India nets during Melbourne Test practice in a video that has gone viral all over social media. He is also fully equipped to bat. There have been no additional reports of Rahul's participation being impacted, and he does not appear to be in too much difficulty.
Rahul's career has been plagued by injuries, especially in Test cricket. Late last year, he appeared to have established himself in the middle order, but Sarfaraz Khan took his place at home after a lengthy absence brought on by an injury sustained during the five-match Test series against England. Following Rahul's injury during the England series, Dhruv Jurel's outstanding performances and Rishabh Pant's comeback virtually eliminated the latter's chances of taking up the gloves.
He was expected to miss the majority of this series, but when skipper Rohit Sharma was unable to play in the first Test, he was given back the opening spot. Rahul played a crucial role in India's historic victory, so much so that Rohit had to return to the middle order for the first time since 2019 in order to maintain Rahul at the top of the order.
In the first innings of the second pink-ball Test, when his teammates all had trouble hitting the bat, he was India's second-highest run scorer. Rahul then braved continuous weather delays to knock an incredible 84 off 139 balls in the Indian first innings of the third Test. Despite being far behind Australia on Day 2, Rahul was crucial in helping the side avoid a follow-on and ultimately force a draw.
