The much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25 is all set to begin on November 22 in Perth. As the big bilateral series comes closer many fans have been expressing how they miss veterans like Cheteshwar Pujara in the squad. However, the batter is not part of the team this time around but will be taking part in a brand new role as a commentator for Star Sports Hindi.

However, Cheteshwar Pujara is the one man the Indian squad will most definitely miss. The Saurashtra batter was instrumental in India's 2020–21 victory in the Test series against Australia, which was their second straight series victory on Australian soil. He amassed 279 runs in four games, including three fifties and a best score of 77. The quantity of deliveries he played and the way he annoyed the Australian bowlers is what made an even more significant difference.

Just so you know, he played 928 balls and scored at a strike rate of 29. Even more vivid is the way Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins continuously hit him when he entered the line of play. Cheteshwar Pujara, however, has been passed over for the IND vs AUS series despite this.

He was named Player of the Series for this amazing run, which featured three hundred and a half centuries. He also played a crucial part in India's historic 2-1 victory, which was their first series win on Australian soil. The 36-year-old batsman has amassed 993 runs at an outstanding average of 47.28 in 11 games throughout his tenure in Australia, including three hundred and five fifties.

Since 1991–1992, this will be the first five-match Test series between Australia and India. The action will shift to the Adelaide Oval for a pink-ball Test match from December 6–10 following the opener in Perth. Brisbane will host the third Test, while Melbourne will host the fourth. The fifth Test, which is set for January 3–7 at the Sydney Cricket Ground, will wrap up the series.
