Mohammed Shami opens up on Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024.

India veteran speedster Mohammed Shami suggested Rohit Sharma-led India to not take a lot of pressure for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 which is scheduled to be played in Australia. He suggested India to play with their natural skill in the five Test matches against Australia scheduled to start from November 22.

In the exclusive conversation with Sports Tak, Shami said that the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is getting a lot of hype because of the World Test Championship points table where India will look to qualify for the final for the third consecutive final.

"This trophy is getting a lot of hype. I think a lot is being thought about about this trophy. We are talking about this because of World Test Championship points. I think the skills and talent of India (reckoning with the past two previous wins), I don't think India need to take a lot of pressure. Just play with your natural skill" Shami told Sports Tak.

Mohammed Shami who reportedly stopped practising because of swelling in his knees also said that he just wanted to be cautious about his leg citing previous injuries. The Indian speedster told Sports Tak that it was just a cautious move citing his previous injuries.

"It is very good now. I stopped it for a week. Because I am also scared sometimes. That there is an operation leg, an operation point. That I don't react. Because of the dryness, my front foot loads more. So I don't want any problem in this. That's why we stepped back. We can see a little bit, but it's not that much. The person was less and the market was more. So I don't want more than this. We need confirmation, that's important" added Shami.

Mohammed Shami last featured in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 where he ended the tournament as the highest wicket-taker picking 24 wickets in seven outings. India lost the World Cup final against Australia at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
