Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 scheduled to start from November 22.

Indian batter Shubman Gill who was supposed to be the potential replacement for Cheteshwar Pujara for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 will miss the first Test match which will take place at The Optus stadium in Perth from November 22 to 26. The young batter fractured his thumb while featuring in the match simulation at WACA.

According to IndianExpress, Gill will miss the first Test match and as there is a long gap between the first and second Test there are chances he will get fit.

“His thumb is not looking good. We got a scan done and it showed a fracture. It will take him at least two weeks to recover. He is ruled out for the first Test match. As there is a big gap between the first and second Test, we are hoping he will recover in time for the second Test,” a BCCI source said as quoted Indian Exprerss.

India are scheduled to play five Test matches against Australia and the team is currently involved in practice sessions to get comfortable with Australian conditions. Earlier, there were reports that wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul was also injured during India's first match simulation on November 15. He left the field and was not featured in the second inning as well.
