Former England captain Michael Vaughan said that the pitch at Optus Stadium in Perth started helping batters as India's opening duo crossed the stand of 100 runs. Yashavi Jaiswal became the first batter to score a half-century in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
Vaughan took his 'X' formerly known as Twitter as posted that India are now looking completely dominant against Australia.
"The pitch has gone to sleep .. India now looking completely dominant in this game .. They have been very very impressive so far .." Posted Vaughan.
Earlier, Bumrah-led India was unable to score runs in the first inning as top order failed to perform where Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal got out on ducks and star batter Virat Kohli just scored five runs. Debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy along with KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant are the only Indian batters who managed to survive for long. For Australia, Josh Hazlewood was the highest wicket-taker as he picked 4/29. Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Alex Carey got two scalps each.
While bowling, Japsrit Bumrah picked a fifer followed by Harshit Rana's three and Mohammed Siraj's two helped India to bundle out Australia on 104 runs.
Vaughan also lavished praise on Bumrah's bowling after the speedster picked up a fifer in first Test against Australia.
"Without any doubt Bumrah is the best bowler in the world across all formats" said Vaughan on fox cricket.
Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif also lavished praise on Yashasvi Jaiswal for his maiden fifty in Australia. He reckoned that the left-handed batter has passed the big Test.
"Just 22 and look at his technique and temperament, that too in Australia. Yashasvi Jaiswal passes the big test. Indian openers scoring runs is bad news for Australia" Kaif posted.
While writing this copy, KL Rahul also smashed his 16th Test fifty and India scored 150 runs. The visitors are leading by 176 runs.
