India's wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was hit on the helmet while batting in the nets while facing throwdown speciallist Raghu in Adelaide ahead of the third Test at The Gabba, Brisbane. Pant was in need of immediate medical attention. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli, who were batting in the adjacent nets, checked up on Pant as he was on his knees recovering from the blow.

Pant did not return to the nets after the concussion test. However, the southpaw did not get injured and will be seen practising when the Indian team reaches Brisbane for the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

Pant is yet to score big in the series so far but his presence is crucial for the visitors at The Gabba. The left-handed batter scored an unbeaten 89 in the historic run chase on the last tour. He is the only batter in the current Indian squad who has scored more than 100 runs at the venue.

Pant yet to score fifty in ongoing tour

So far, the 27-year-old has scored 87 runs from the four innings in the ongoing series. He has been able to get starts with his typical aggressive nature but hasn't converted them into big scores.

Pant's record in Australia

The wicketkeeper has scored 711 runs from nine Tests in Australia at an average of 50.78 including one century and two half-centuries.

How Indian batters fared in the nets

India are expected to stick with same batting order as the pink-ball Test. KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal walked out to bat first in the nets. The centurion of the first Test, Jaiswal was in good touch.

Shubman Gill batted well in the nets as well whereas Kohli looked to work on the problems he has faced against the short of the length deliveries. He tried to leave or play those deliveries on back foot in order to avoid edging them to the wicketkeeper or the slip cordon. Skipper Rohit Sharma struggled in the nets. Rohit registered single-digit scores in pink-ball Test and is likely to bat in the middle order in Brisbane as well. Washington Sundar walked out to bat in the nets. It may be an indication that he replaces Ravichandran Ashwin for the third Test.
