Story Highlights:

Rohit Sharma set to miss Sydney Test of BGT 2024-25.

Jasprit Bumrah will lead India in fifth Test of BGT 2024-25.

The former India cricketer Madan Lal who featured in the 1983 World Cup team alongside Kapil Dev reacted to reports of Rohit Sharma missing the fifth Test match against Australia. He lavished praise on management for taking a bold call in the Sydney Test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

Australia are currently leading 2-1 in the five Test match series and the upcoming clash will decide the winner of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Both India and Australia will look to win the upcoming Test citing the World Test Championship (WTC) final.

“Very good decision taken by management," Madan Lal in an interaction with CNN-News18 commented on Rohit being rested.

Madan Lal believes that captain Rohit was also involved in the decision along with the team management.

“I think the captain was part of this decision," he added.

Rohit is going through a lean patch in the longest format of the game. He has been unable to perform with the bat since India's last Test assignment against New Zealand.

Team India will feature with three changes in the Sydney Test as KL Rahul opens alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal in the absence of Rohit. Jasprit Bumrah will lead the side and Prasidh Krishna is set to play his maiden Test in Australia as Akash Deep got injured before the pink Test.

The upcoming Test match will decide India's fate for the World Test Championship (WTC) final. The Men in Blue need to win the upcoming Test match to stay in the race for the WTC final set to take place in England later this year. On the other hand, Australia are just a win away to confirm their berth for the WTC final.
