Former India captain Virat Kohli who is currently featuring in the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 made headlines of Day 1 of the play for his actions on the field. Kohli deliberately 'walked into' Australian youngster Sam Konstas on Day 1, prompting the ICC match referee to penalise him with a fine. The Indian star is currently facing a lot of heat around the world and the fans in Australia aren't yet ready to forgive the India star. As Kohli walked onto the field with the bat in hand in the final session of the second day's play, the entire MCG erupted with boos.
Kohli came to bat after India skipper Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul's wicket in the second session. Kohli walked out to bat with Yashasvi Jaiswal to begin the proceeding after Tea session. A huge section of Australian fans welcomed him with jeers, though Indian fans decided to intervene and cancelled out the boos with their applause. Here's the video:
Earlier on Day 1 Kohli and Konstas got involved in a verbal spat after the India star's shoulder collided with Australia's opener during the 10th over. Konstas featured for Prime Minister XI against India in Adelaide. He made his international debut in the ongoing fourth Test match against India.
Coming back to Day 2, Rohit Sharma who returned to his original batting position again failed to perform as he got out after scoring just three runs and KL Rahul who was looking confident in this series also got out after scoring just 24 runs.
