On the back of Ishan Kishan's scintillating double hundred and Virat Kohli's 72nd international ton, India finally imposed their will on Bangladesh and salvaged pride in a lost series. The Men in Blue registered a thumping 227-run victory in the 3rd ODI on December 10 (Saturday) but ended up conceding the three-match series 1-2 as the visitors have suffered agonising defeats in the first two ODIs.
The 24-year-old Kishan played an outrageous knock of 210 runs in 131 balls and trounced Bangladesh's bowling attack without breaking a sweat. During his majestical knock, the southpaw whacked 24 fours and 10 sixes. On the other end, Kohli quietly kept chipping away at the runs column and notched his 44th ODI hundred before being dismissed for 113 runs off 91 balls. India posted their fourth-highest total in ODIs. After 50 overs, India managed to score 409/8 and batted the hosts out of the game.
Chasing a daunting target, Bangladesh openers led by stand-in captain Litton Das, started aggressively but the pressure of chasing a huge total proved too much. Anamul Haque (8 runs off 7 balls) was first Bangladesh batter to bite the dust as Axar Patel struck in his first over of the spell. Das, who was looking in exemplary form, was sent packing by Mohammed Siraj for 29 runs in 26 balls. Axar then cleaned up Mushfiqur Rahim on the last ball of the 12th over (7 runs off 13 balls) and Bangladesh were reduced to 73/3.
Shakib Al Hasan (43 runs off 50 balls) and Yasir Ali (25 runs off 30 balls) stitched a brief partnership but once Umran Malik trapped the latter in front of the sticks, the writing was on the ball. Kuldeep Yadav got the prized wicket of Shakib and from 124/5 there was no way for Bangladesh to stage a comeback.
