Ravindra Jadeja will not regain fitness before India travel to Bangladesh for a three-ODI series starting December 4, as reported by ESPNCricinfo. Jadeja has not recovered from a knee surgery due to which he left T20 Asia Cup midway and got ruled out of T20 World Cup 2022 as well.
In Jadeja's absence, Shahbaz Ahmed is likely to get picked for the ODI series as India’s full strength squad start their preparations for the ODI World Cup 2023 at home.
Later, for the Test series, Uttar Pradesh left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar is another player who could be considered for the role. However, Axar Patel who is already in the squad can make it into the XI of both formats for his left-arm spin and batting services down the order.
The ODI series will conclude on December 10. The Test series which is a part of World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 will commence on December 14.
India are currently fourth on WTC points table with win percentage of 52.088. Two wins will help them climb to the second spot above South Africa. On the other end, Bangladesh are at the bottom of the table with nine losses from 10 games.
