India got themselves in a hole on a flat pitch and posted 85/3 at lunch on day one of the first Test against Bangladesh after captain KL Rahul won the coin flip and elected to bat first. The visitors were later bailed out by Cheteshwar Pujara and Shreyas Iyer as the dup registered a steady unbeaten partnership of 62-run partnership for the fifth wicket and took India's total to 174/4 at Tea on day one. While openers Rahul (22) and Shubman Gill (20) failed to convert their starts into substantial knocks.
Former India captain and maverick batter, Virat Kohli failed to even get a start. The right-handed batter fell to a beauty from Taijul Islam who got one to turn sharply from leg-stump. The ball hit the back leg of the star Indian batter, trapping him in front of the stumps. Kohli walked back to the pavilion after scoring just one run in five balls.

Kohli opted for the DRS but the replay only revealed that the stylish batter was a 'dead duck' with the ball going on to crash on the middle and leg stump. As a result, Kohli's treacherous form in red-ball cricket continued in 2022.
If you take a closer look at Kohli's average, it suggests that the Indian batter is enduring his 3rd worst year in Test cricket. The right-handed batter is averaging 27.62 in Tests matches in 2022. Kohli's worst year in Test cricket came in 2020 when he averaged just 19.33 with the bat while his second-worst year in Test cricket came in 2011 when he averaged 22.44 with the bat. Furthermore, India's star batter has been dismissed 10 times on single-digit scores so far in 2022.Â
