Another massive feat that Gill achieved with his incredible batting display in the Edgbaston Test was that he became the first-ever player to record a double-century and a 150-plus score in the same Test. He was also adjudged the Player of the Match for the second Test for his valiant contributions with the bat.

With the victory at Edgbaston, Gill also became the first-ever Indian captain to win a Test at the venue. Notably, in the seven Tests that the Men in Blue had played before in Birmingham, they had failed to record a single victory and their best result was a draw which came way back in 1986.
