The fourth Test match between India and England at Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester ended dramatically as Ravindra Jadeja didn't accept Ben Stokes' offer to call off the match before the start of the mandatory overs. Jadeja and Sundar were batting on 89 and 80, the Indians didn’t take the offer from Stokes and chose to continue batting. They also had a sarcastic chat on the ground.
However, India declared the Test match after both batters completed their centuries. After the Manchester Test, Ben Stokes admitted that he doesn't want to risk his bowlers, and they even had conversations around how much effort and energy have gone into the bowling department
"Didn't want to risk my fast bowlers with any injuries towards the end. Dawson bowled a lot of overs too. Even before this Test, there were conversations around how much effort and energy have gone into the bowling department. Bowlers will be assessed ovet the next couple of days," said Ben Stokes in the post-match conference.
Stokes also opened up on his injury concerns during the fourth Test; the fast bowling all-rounder was seen limping at the end of Day 4 play.
"Yeah, it's just that workload, a lot of these things, to be honest. Obviously you got through a fair few amount of overs. Yeah, just everything obviously starts creeping up on you. But look, I'll keep trying, keep going and you know. As I always say to all the bowlers, pain is only an emotion" added Stokes.
Stokes also praised India's all-rounders Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja for their steer determination to end England's hope to win the clash.
"Yeah, I think all the hard work was done by India. They both (Washi and Jadeja) played incredibly well and it got to that point where there was obviously only one result and there was absolutely no chance" Stokes also added.
England are currently leading 2-1 in the five-Test match series of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. The fifth Test match will take place from 31 July to 4 August at The Oval in London.
