Gill and Rahul Steady the Ship with a Gritty Partnership
When India were reeling, veteran batter KL Rahul and the skipper stepped up. The duo played with temperament and guided India safely through the rest of Day 4 and into the fifth day. They managed to stitch a 188-run stand in 421 balls, which was the India’s resistance. Rahul, unfortunately, fell short of a century, trapped LBW by Ben Stokes for a valiant 90. Gill, however, carried on to complete a crucial century, his fourth in this series, before falling to Jofra Archer for 103.
Jadeja and Sundar Seal the Draw with Heroic Unbeaten Centuries
With the scoreboard reading 222 for 4, the match was still hanging in the balance. But what followed was pure grit and calm under pressure. Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar came together and ensured there would be no more drama. The duo soaked up the pressure, wore down the bowlers, and slowly turned the tide.
Their unbeaten 203-run partnership off 334 balls not only wiped out the deficit but also shut the door firmly on any hopes England had of pulling off a win. By stumps, India had reached 425/4. Jadeja remained not out on 107, while Sundar brought up a richly deserved century, finishing on 101*.
