Story Highlights:

Arshdeep Singh ruled out of fourth Test against England.

England are leading 2-1 in five-Test series against India.

India speedster Arshdeep Singh, who is a part of Shubman Gill-led side for the five-Test matches of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, has been reportedly ruled out of the fourth Test against England, which will take place from 23-27 July at Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester.

Arshdeep who played an important role for India in their T20 World Cup 2024 winning campaign, has injured his bowling hand. He got injured on Thursday during net sessions while stopping a ball hit by Sai Sudharsan on his follow-through. The hand was stitched up, and it’s now unlikely he will be fit to play in the fourth Test.

“Arshdeep has a deep cut and has had stitches; he will take at least ten days to get completely fit. The selectors have decided to add Kamboj in the squad,” a BCCI source said as quoted by the Indian Express.

However, Arshdeep, who is part of the squad yet to make his Test debut, and on the other hand, Akash Deep, who featured in the last two Tests, is also struggling with a groin niggle. Akash Deep left the field midway on day 4 of the third Test at Lord’s, in the 28th over of the England innings after feeling discomfort. Akash Deep didn’t bowl in a nets session organised by the Indian team before leaving for Manchester.

BCCI have added Chennai Super Kings (CSK) speedster Anshul Kamboj as the cover bowler in the Indian squad for the remainder of the Tests. Kamboj was part of the Abhimanyu Easwaran-led India A side, which played two three-day games last month. He took five wickets in the two games.

Coming back to the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, after India's narrow 22-run defeat in the third Test match against England at Lord's Stadium in London, England are leading 2-1 in the five-Test match series.
