Former India Test captain Virat Kohli recently took to social media and lauded Shubman Gill-led side for their dominating performance at Edgbaston, Birmingham. After crushing England by 336 runs, India levelled the five-match series 1-1. Akash Deep took a maiden six-wicket haul and helped India secure a 336-run win over Ben Stokes' England to level series 1-1.
India's maiden Test win at Edgbaston led to Kohli taking it to social media and praise young captain Shubhman Gill for his record-breaking performance alongside, Mohammed Siraj, Deep.
"Great victory for India at Edgbaston. Fearless and kept pushing England to the wall. Brilliantly led by Shubman with the bat and in the field, and impactful performances from everyone. Special mention to Siraj and Akash for the way they bowled on this pitch,” Virat Kohli posted.

This post caught the attention of former England batter Jonathan Trott and he felt that Kohli perhaps missed being part of the dressing room. He hopes that Kohli makes a comeback to the format.
"Coming back to Virat Kohli's tweet, no wonder he misses that dressing room feeling. I sometimes wonder how quickly that feeling comes back after you give up the game. Doesn’t he live in St. John’s Wood or nearby? Can he not be persuaded to come back?" Trott said while broadcasting for Sony Sports.
When told that the No. 4 slot is hard to break now following Gill's mega exploits in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy
"I’m sure he would have liked No. 5 or 3", Trott added.
When will Kohli be seen in action again?
With India's tour of Bangladesh postponed, Kohli will be seen in action in the ODI series on Australian soil. India are scheduled to tour Australia for three ODIs and five T20Is later this year. The ODI series will commence on October 19 at Perth Stadium, a venue where Kohli scored his last Test century.
The second ODI will be played at Adelaide Oval, followed by the third ODI at Sydney Cricket Ground. Along with Kohli, it will mark the international comeback for Rohit Sharma as well. Both senior batters retired from Test cricket in May. ODI is the only format they will continue to play.
