India vice-captain Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the fifth Test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 after getting an injury while batting during the fourth Test match at Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester. The Board of Control for Cricket in India
announced Tamil Nadu wicketkeeper batter Narayan Jagadeesan as his replacement for the last clash of the series. 

Pant sustained a fracture to his right foot during the fourth Test against England in Manchester, and the BCCI team are monitoring his progress. Pant got injured while batting on Day 1 of the fourth Test match. The wicketkeeper batter left the field midway as Ravindra Jadeja came in to join Washington Sundar.

However, the wicketkeeper batter came again to bat on Day 2 to add more runs in India's total. He scored 17 runs on the second Day to complete his half-century before getting dismissed by Jofra Archer. 

Pant's replacement, Narayan Jagadeesan, has played 13 IPL matches representing Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2020/21 and 2022, and his last outing in the cash-rich league came for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2023. He scored 162* runs in his IPL career.

"Rishabh Pant, who sustained a fracture to his right foot during the fourth Test against England in Manchester, has been ruled out of the fifth and final Test of the series. The BCCI Medical Team will continue to monitor his progress and the team wishes him a speedy recovery. The Men’s Selection Committee has named Narayan Jagadeesan as replacement for Rishabh Pant for the fifth Test, which begins on July 31, 2025 at Kennington Oval, London said BCCI in a release. 

 

Pant was among the highest run-getters in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, scoring 479 runs in seven innings, including two centuries and three half-centuries.
