Former India head coach Ravi Shastri jockingly suggested speedster Mohammed Siraj to not look pass on umpiring decision after gesturing to 'out' sign for a run-out appeal on Day 4 of the fourth Test match against England at Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester.
Team India appealed for out following a direct hit by debutant Anshul Kamboj during the first over of the day. England captain Ben Stokes tried for a single after nudging Jasprit Bumrah's delivery to mid-on and ran off for a quick single. He made it to the crease without diving as Anshul Kamboj was able to hit the stumps.
Mohammed Siraj stuck his finger up right away, suggesting that Stokes was short of the crease, but the replays made it clear that he was inside the crease before the ball hit the stumps. Ravi Shastri and Nasser Hussain, who are doing commentary duties, suggested the India seamer focus on his bowling instead of trying his inputs with regard to the umpire's calls.
"The players will tell Siraj - you stick to bowling, not umpiring," Ravi Shastri said during commentary.
"I don't think he'll make an umpire when he retires," Hussain added.
Coming back to the fourth Test match between India and England, the hosts are currently in a dominating position against the Shubman Gill-led side as the lead has crossed the 200-run mark during the first session of the Manchester Test. England captain Ben Stokes has also smashed a century. England are currently leading 2-1 and if they manage to win this match they they will be the winners of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.
