India middle-order batter Karun Nair made his international comeback after an eight-year gap in the Shubman Gill-led squad for the recently concluded five-Test match series of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 against England. Nair got the national call-up after a brilliant performance in domestic cricket. He scored 863 runs across nine games in the Ranji Trophy.

However, he failed to perform against England and during the fifth and last Test match of the five-match series, a clip was going viral on social media where he can be seen in tears sitting next to his Karnataka teammate KL Rahul. However, after the series concluded, Nair revealed that it was not an original video, admitting that he was sitting alongside KL Rahul on the balcony but he was not crying.

"I think that was an AI-generated video. I don't think that's a real video at all.  Yes, we were sitting on the balcony, but after that, everything was,  you know, it's not real. Yeah, it was good to have Prasidh and KL Rahul with me. We had a lot of fun in the last two months.  We spent a lot of time together. We discussed cricket, we discussed everything else about being back in the team.  It was a good time, and really glad that we could end the series on a high note" Nair told Inside Sport

Nair featured in four Test matches of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, where he managed to score 205 runs in eight innings, including a half-century in the first inning of the fifth and last Test match. India won the second and fifth Test matches, and England came victorious in the first and third Test matches. The fourth Test match of the series ended in a draw. The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 ended in a 2-2 draw after India's six-run win in the last Test match.
