IND vs ENG: Rohit drops in-form Pandya, tests bench strength with 4 changes including Umran in dead rubber

Rohit Sharma decided to test his bench strength in the third T20I after taking an unassailable lead in the three-T20I series. Rohit made four changes to the side replacing Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal with Shreyas Iyer, Avesh Khan, Umran Malik and Ravi Bishnoi.

This will be Malik’s third T20I appearance. The Jammu & Kashmir express made an unimpressive debut against Ireland but made up for it by defending 17 runs in the final over of the high-scoring second encounter.

Rohit decided to go into the game with five specialist bowlers by replacing Hardik with Shreyas Iyer. However, it will be interesting to see where Iyer bats.

“We would have fielded first. Had batted first twice, wanted to chase at least once. Four changes for us - Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Umran Malik and Shreyas Iyer are in. They replace Bhuvi, Bumrah, Chahal and Hardik. We don't want to miss out on the winning confidence, but there are a few things we want to have a look at before the World Cup, so the changes. We're excited for Umran, want to wish him the best and give him confidence,” Rohit said at the coin toss.

Buttler made two changes to his side after winning the toss and electing to bat first for the first time in the series. The new limited-overs skipper included Philip Salt, Reece Topley in place of Sam Curran and Matthew Parkinson respectively.

“Just looking for a change-up, looks like a great wicket. Two changes - Reece Topley and Phil Salt are in, Salt will bat at 4. Parkinson and Curran miss out. Looks like a brilliant surface, there is still a lot of confidence in the side,” Buttler said after losing the toss.
