Yuzvendra Chahal has broken 39-year-old record of Mohinder Amarnath at Lord’s on July 14. Now, Chahal has the best bowling figures by an Indian bowler in ODIs at the venue. The previous record was created in the final of 1983 World Cup by Amarnath, who took three wickets for 12 runs against the mighty West Indies side.

Apart from Amarnath, Ashish Nehra, Harbhajan Singh, Madan Lal, Yuvraj Singh, RP Singh, Zaheer Khan and Kuldeep Yadav have taken three wickets each in an ODI at the iconic venue.

Joining the legend
Chahal's 4/47 is also the second four-fer at Lord's after legendary Australian bowler Shane Warne who bagged 4/33 against Pakistan in 1999. His best bowling figures is also the fifth-best at the venue by a spinner in the format.

Chahal’s four victims
Chahal was introduced in the 13th over of the innings. He got rid of the menacing Jonny Bairstow who was looking to hit big shots. Bairstow got bowled in an attempt to play a cross-batted shot. In his third over, he got the wicket of former England skipper. Joe Root tried to sweep but missed the ball completely and got out leg before wicket. In his fifth over, he got the wicket of Ben Stokes who tried to play a reverse sweep and missed.

Later in the innings, he came back into the attack and got the wicket of Moeen Ali. The southpaw attempted a sweep shot but was caught in the deep by Ravindra Jadeja. Ali missed his half-century and got out for 47 off 64 deliveries. Chahal broke the seventh-wicket partnership and finished his second spell in the 44th over.

Redemption for Chahal
This is also Chahal's best bowling figures against England. It is also a redemption performance for the Haryana-born bowler as he conceded 88 runs against England in Birmingham in World Cup 2019. Bairstow had taken on the duo of Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav  as India lost their group stage game.
