After a period of uncertainty and cryptic social media posts, Yuzvendra Chahal expressed his elation upon being selected for India's ODI squad for the upcoming South Africa tour. The BCCI recently announced India's squads for all three formats for the tour, which is scheduled to commence from December 10. India will engage in a two-Test, three-ODI, and three-T20I series against South Africa.
Chahal's selection marks his return to the Indian team after a three-month hiatus, during which he was overlooked for the Asia Cup, ODI World Cup, and the ongoing T20I series against Australia. His last international appearance was in August during India's tour of the West Indies.
Chahal took to X, formerly know as Twitter and wrote “Here we go AGAIN!”
Recently, Chahal stunned everyone by snaring six wickets for Haryana in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Uttrakhand. His brilliant six-fer bundled out Uttrakhand for a paltry 207. Chahal claimed his fifth List A five-for just two balls later when he got the wicket of Mayank Misha for a duck. The spinner then claimed his third six-wicket haul in his final over, finishing with figures of 6/26 in 10 overs.
Meanwhile, along with Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav will be leading India's spin attack in the ODI series against South Africa. KL Rahul has been given the onus to lead the Men in Blue's pack in absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma while veteran batter Sanju Samson and star pacer Deepak Chahar finally made a comeback to India's fold. But what caught everyone's attention was Virat Kohli and Rohit's absence from India's ODI squad. Rohit and Kohli won’t be traveling for the white-ball series as they requested for rest from the board.
The tour will commence with the three-match T20I series, kicking off on December 10 at the Kingsmead Stadium. The subsequent matches will be played on December 12 at the St George's Oval and December 14 at the Wanderers Stadium.
The ODI series will follow, starting on December 17 at the Wanderers Stadium. The second and third ODIs will be held on December 19 and December 21, respectively.
