Former Indian batter Wasim Jaffer expressed his views on Twitter regarding this situation. He sees this as an invaluable opportunity for the younger generation of bowlers to demonstrate their capabilities on the international stage, emphasizing their role as the future of Indian bowling.

Despite Shami's absence, the Indian team will be bolstered by the return of Jasprit Bumrah to red ball cricket. Bumrah, who last played Test cricket in mid-2022, notably led the Indian team in England in his most recent Test match. However, under his captaincy, India faced defeat against Ben Stokes-led England in a rescheduled Test.
The conditions in South Africa are generally conducive to fast bowling, which is expected to play to India's advantage. Bumrah's return adds a significant boost to the Indian bowling attack, which is anticipated to perform well in these conditions.
