A lot has happened in Indian cricket in recent times regarding the captaincy issue. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)-Virat Kohli saga had created a huge buzz recently and justifiably received plenty of attention as well. And the captaincy debate turned out to be so impactful that Indian cricket appointed Rohit Sharma as their new ODI captain, KL Rahul was made the new vice-captain of Indian Test after the removal of Ajinkya Rahane and Rahul even went on lead the side in the second Test against South Africa in the absence of skipper Kohli.
Kohli’s silence on the fiasco has been a little baffling as well, he did not even attend a single press conference after arriving in the Rainbow Nation.
Sharma speaks
And now his childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma has spoken on the issue. Sharma has seen Kohli very closely and moreover from his childhood days. Sharma thinks that there must have been some reason why the captain was not seen before and after both the matches. He also said that he is unable to figure out the actual reason for Kohli’s silence.
"Can't understand the reason for this. I feel the BCCI might have made some new rules on who would be addressing or the media manager might have been given more powers, that he will decide if the captain will go or not,” said Sharma while talking to one online news portal.
Kohli’s childhood coach was asked about the sudden change in the rules and regulations but he did mention that it js difficult for him to ascertain the real reason.
Sudden change in system
"There must have been some reason why the captain was not seen before and after both the matches. It is difficult to say why this sudden change has been done or whether a change has actually been done or it is by chance," he added.
India will take on the Proteas in the third Test that is scheduled to start on January 11, in Cape Town. India had secured a historic victory in the first Test by 113 runs, under the leadership of Kohli. But the hosts bounced back in the second Test with a convincing 7-wicket victory.
