India’s fast-bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah got injured in the second session of Day 3 of the ongoing first Test in Centurion. Amidst a fiery spell with the new ball, Bumrah twisted his right ankle on the follow-through and was taken off the field after the physio had a look.
Shreyas Iyer was called in as substitute for an injured Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj completed his over as he had to leave after the penultimate delivery. The fast bowler was monitored by the team. After getting his ankle taped, he was seen walking on the sidelines.
Before getting injured, the 28-year-old got the wicket of opener Dean Elgar. He was able to extract extra bounce off the pitch with the new ball and dominated the Proteas batters.
Earlier, Bumrah helped India add some crucial runs on the board as they suffered a major collapse in the first session. He scored 14 runs from 17 deliveries including two boundaries.
