With 4 wins from 7 Tests, where do India stand on WTC standings?

With a convincing win in the first Test of the three-Test series, India have maintained their fourth spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 table. With their fourth win in the current cycle, India have closed in on the difference between themselves and third-placed Pakistan. India have a win percentage of 64.28 with four wins from seven Tests including two draws and one loss. 

 

The table is currently topped by Australia who have a win percentage of 100 per cent with three wins from three Tests in the ongoing Ashes 2021-22. Sri Lanka also have a win percentage of 100 with two wins from two Tests against West Indies. The third-placed Pakistan have three wins from four Tests with a Test series win against Bangladesh in Bangladesh. 

 

India are followed by West Indies, New Zealand, England, South Africa and Bangladesh on the table. India also have two penalty overs which may play a part later in the championship. On the other hand, England have most number of penalty overs (10).

 

India are only side on the table who are playing their third Test series. India played a draw each against England and New Zealand. The only loss in the current cycle came against England. Also, India have most number of points (54), followed by Australia (36), Pakistan (36) and Sri Lanka (24). 

 

India will eye their maiden Test series win on South African soil with two more Tests to go. India are currently leading the five-match Test series against England by 2-1. The last Test series was postponed due to Covid-19 outbreak in Indian camp and will be played in 2022 as a one-off Test along with the limited-overs series. At home, India missed out on full points by a wicket in Kanpur as New Zealand’s last stand saved them from defeat with the help of bad light towards the end of the Test.
