Sri Lanka Cricket have faced a huge blow after their second pacer Nuwan Thushara has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match T20I series scheduled to start from July 27 against India. He is the second pacer who is ruled out from the squad ahead of the series. Earlier, Dushmantha Chameera was ruled out due to illness after the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2024.
Thushara has broken a finger in his left hand during the practice session on the ahead of the 1st T20I. Chameera who was out with illness has been replaced by Asitha Fernando. Thushara's replacement has not been named yet, but it may be left-armer Dilshan Madushanka. Thushara was part of Sri Lanka's T20 World Cup 2024 squad where he picked eight wickets in his three outings of the marquee event. He had also taken a T20I hat-trick against Bangladesh.
India will play a three-match T20I series followed by a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka scheduled to start from July 27. Sri Lanka have announced their squad for T20I where Charith Asalanka will lead the side the hosts are yet to announce their squad for the ODIs.
On the other hand, India have announced their ODI, and T20I squad which will feature against Sri Lanka. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side in T20Is and Rohit Sharma will lead Men in Blue in ODIs.
