Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian cricket team picked up a thrilling win against Charith Asalanka's Sri Lanka in the third and final T20I of the series which will be played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele, on July 30 (Tuesday). India clean sweeped the Lankan Lions. The match went into the Super Over and the Men in Blue sealed the series 3-0 from a position where everyone was expecting them to lose the final T20I. It was Rinku Singh and Suryakumar Yadav's bowling heroics in the 19th and 20th over respectively that ensured India's win. They might have been unimpressive with the bat today but ensured the job with the ball, something that no one was expecting. Both of them took two-wicket each and turned the tables completely on the Island nation. Now from August 2, Team India under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma will play a three-match ODI series between India and Sri Lanka.

 

Team India got restricted to 137/9

 

Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bowl first and their bowlers did not allow the Indian batters to settle on the pitch for long. Only Shubman Gill was able to survive the attack of Lankan bowlers foin the top order for India. Whereas Yashasvi Jaiswal (10), Sanju Samson (0), Rinku Singh (1), Suryakumar Yadav (8) and Shivam Dubey (13) could not do anything special. Due to this five wickets fell down when India's score was just 45 runs. After this, for India, Shubman Gill scored 39 runs in 37 balls with the help of 3 fours. Ryan Parag scored 26 runs in 18 balls with two fours and one six, while Washington Sundar scored 25 runs in 18 balls with two fours and one six. With the help of these innings, India, playing first, scored 137 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Whereas Mahish Teekshana took three wickets for Sri Lanka.

Rinku and Sundar's bowling stuns SL


Mendis came close to ensuring Sri Lanka's victory after scoring 43 runs in 41 balls with three fours. But after this, Washington Sundar took two wickets in two consecutive balls in the 17th over of the innings. When Sri Lanka needed 9 runs from 12 balls, Rinku Singh came as a surprise to bowl the 19th over and gave a big blow by dismissing Kusal Perera. Perera got out with a score 46 runs in 34 balls with 5 fours and Rinku took the first wicket of her T20 career while bowling spin. Whereas on the last ball of this over, Rinku trapped Ramesh Mendis and got another wicket. Sri Lanka got the sixth blow on the score of 132 runs and now it needed 6 runs to win in the last over.

 

Surya saves the day with the ball


Captain Suryakumar Yadav came to bowl the last over for India and he also took two wickets for five runs. Due to this the Sri Lankan team could score only 137 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs in what could have been a one-sided win for them. The match went into super over.

 

India seal victory in Super Over

 

Washington Sundar ensured that India only got a 3-run target in the Super Over as he cut short SL's innings by taking two wickets in the Super Over. Then Suryakumar Yadav hit a boundary on the first ball and clinched the series 3-0 for India.
