Star Indian batter Virat Kohli is all set to make his much-awaited return to the cricketing field for the first time since the historic triumph in the recently concluded edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 with the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka. This will also be his first series along with Gautam Gambhir as the new Indian head coach, who started his tenure with an epic 3-0 win against the Island nation in the T20I series which was held in Pallekele. Ahead of the first ODI, pictures of Delhi boys, Kohli and Gambhir sharing an epic moment are winning everyone's heart on the internet.
Kohli-Gambhir reunion
Virat and Gautam share a rich history together. Both of them have together won many matches for India but also have some heated altercations with each other. However, now that is just a talk of the past as both of them buried the hatchet. Even Gambhir was all praise for both Rohit and Virat following receiving the position of Indian head coach. Now photos of Virat and Gambhir laughing together during India's practice session are going viral on the internet at a rapid pace. Everyone is happy to see the reunion of the Delhi boys and are sharing the pictures rapidly all across social media.
Gautam Gambhir on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma
Gambhir was all praise for the duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma during his first press conference as the Indian head coach. He referred to them as match-winners and expressed that he wants both Virat and Rohit to be available for most matches and even the 2027 World Cup if they are fit enough to continue.
"They have shown what they can deliver on the big stage. Both have lot of cricket left in them. The Champions Trophy, if they keep their fitness then even the 2027 World Cup. How long they can continue is their personal decision. Looking at what they can deliver, they are still world class and any team would want to have both of them," Gambhir said in his first press conference as Indian head coach.
"I've said it before, workload management for someone like Jasprit (Bumrah) is important. He is one rare bowler, which anyone would want. You want him to play important games. That's why the workload management for not just him but fast bowlers is important. If you are a batter, who's batting well, you might as well just play all formats. Rohit and Virat have retired from T20Is now, so they will play two formats from now. Hopefully they are available for most of the games," he added.
