Following India's seven-wicket victory over the West Indies in the 3rd T20I at the Providence Stadium, Guyana, Team India captain Hardik Pandya showcased an act of kindness that endeared him to fans worldwide. Keeping the series alive, the Indian contingent was in high spirits after their significant win.
After the game on Tuesday, August 8, a still-padded-up Pandya was seen walking towards a stand in the stadium with a ball signed by him. Reaching a young female fan, he handed over the ball, leaving her elated.
The backstory revealed that during India's pre-match training session for the 3rd T20I, the same fan, present to watch the team practice, was inadvertently hit on the chin by a ball while Pandya was batting in the nets. Visibly concerned at that moment, Pandya immediately signalled the BCCI medical team to ensure she was alright.
He also asked her to stay back, assuring her of a special gesture to make amends. His post-match gesture turned out to be that heartwarming surprise, receiving immense appreciation on social media platforms.
India's resounding win was punctuated by Suryakumar Yadav's dazzling batting display, where he scored an impressive 83 off just 44 balls. After an early setback with both openers returning to the pavilion, Yadav's innings, laden with 10 fours and four sixes, set the foundation for India's successful run-chase.
Tilak Varma complemented Yadav well, remaining not out at 49. The duo's 87-run partnership proved pivotal, helping India surpass the 160-run target in just 17.5 overs.
India's bowlers deserve their share of accolades. Kuldeep Yadav's exemplary performance of three wickets for just 28 runs halted the West Indies' momentum in the middle overs. Axar Patel and Mukesh Kumar also contributed, each claiming a wicket, ensuring India's dominant position in the game.
