India's batting sensation Tilak Varma and ace spinner Kuldeep Yadav have made significant strides in the ICC T20I rankings following their exceptional performances in the ongoing West Indies tour.
Tilak Varma's Explosive Entry in ICC Rankings
Debuting in the T20I series against West Indies, Tilak Varma displayed remarkable consistency with the willow. He also scored a match-winning 49* in the third T20I against West Indies, which India won by seven wickets. After three consecutive standout innings, he's recorded joint-highest runs for any debutant in their first three T20I matches for India. With such a blazing start, Varma has marked his presence in the T20I rankings for the first time, making an impressive debut at the 46th position. As India prep for the remaining matches against the West Indies, all eyes will be on Varma to sustain this momentum.
Kuldeep Yadav's Meteoric Rise in Bowling Charts
Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav has also achieved a massive leap in the ICC T20I bowling rankings. He ascended a whopping 36 spots, securing the 51st position, owing to his captivating performances in the first and third T20Is. Kuldeep's bowling mastery wasn't limited to T20Is, as his significant contributions in the ODIs played a pivotal role in India's 2-1 series victory.
"India newcomer Tilak Varma enters the batter rankings at 46th following a flying start to his international career and Kuldeep (up 36 places to 51st) is the biggest eye-catcher on the list for bowlers from the perspective of the Asian side," the ICC release said on Wednesday, 9 August," ICC's press release read.
Besides Indian players, West Indies' star batter Nicholas Pooran surged six places up to secure the 14th spot in the T20I batters' rankings. Meanwhile, Rovman Powell made significant progress, jumping 17 positions to land at 32nd.
