The Cricket West Indies on July 24 (Monday) announced the senior men's national squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India. Swashbuckling left-handed batter Shimron Hetmyer and out-and-out genuine right-arm pacer Oshane Thomas were recalled to the 15-member squad that will take on the Men in Blue. Shai Hope will continue to lead the Men in Maroon in the 50-over format while Rovman Powell will be his deputy.

"We wecome Oshane and Shimron back into the group. Both have played at the international level before, with some success, and we believe they will fit well into the set-up. Oshane brings pace and is a potential wicket-taker with the new ball. Shimron’s style of batting will offer a lot especially in the middle stage of the innings and he is also a potential ‘finisher’," Desmond Haynes, lead selector of Cricket West Indie said in a release.

Hetmyer, who has played 47 ODIs, last represented the Men in Maroon in the 50-over format in July 2022. His inclusion would bode well with the current Windies outfit as the southpaw will add muscle and fire-power to the hosts' batting line-up. Thomas returns to the Windies ODI squad after a lengthy gap of over three years. He last played an ODI match in January 2020.

Seamer Jayden Seales, leg-spinner Yannic Cariah and left-arm orthodox Gudakesh Motie have all recovered from their respective injuries and been named in the ODI squad.
