Sashi Tharoor lavishes huge praise on Shubman Gill-led Indian cricket team after they defeated Zimbabwe in the second T20I on July 7 at Harare Sports Club in Harare. The 68-year-old hails young batter Abhishek Sharma for his maiden T20I century.
Abhishek Sharma replicated his IPL batting style while playing against Zimbabwe and scored a century in just 46 balls which helped India to score a mammoth total of 234 runs in 20 overs.
Tharoor who is an avid cricket fan lavished praise on the SRH batter for his memorable century against Zimbabwe. He took his ‘X’ (formerly known as twitter to hail the Indian batter).
“Congratulations to the young India team that just thrashed Zimbabwe today by 100 runs, especially @IamAbhiSharma4 whose century was the third-fastest ever scored for India in T20Is. Happy they bounced back so quickly from their poor showing yesterday (and glad to be trolled for a happy cause)!” Tweeted Tharoor.
After registering the massive total, Indian bowlers bundle out Zimbabwe on Just 134 runs which helped India to register a 100-run win against the hosts.
Now after the second T20I, it is expected that Sanju Samson will replace Dhruv Jurel behind the stumps, Shivam Dube with his all-round skills will come in place of Sai Sudharsan and Riyan Parag might have to sacrifice his place for Jaiswal in the match scheduled on July 10.
Abhishek Sharma was awarded Player of the Match for his century. After receiving the award he said that India didn't have much time to lament after upset in the series opener. The star southpaw couldn't make big on his debut and was dismissed for a duck. However, he made his second T20I appearance count and went on to crack a breathtaking century to turn heads.
“It was a good performance after the defeat yesterday. We didn't have much time to lament. I felt that T20 is all about the momentum, thought it was my day today. Special thanks to the coaches and captain to keep confidence. I feel like if it's your day, you express yourself. After the drop I thought it was my day and had to take responsibility. Rutu helped me in keeping perspective. I always believe in my (hitting) ability. It's about momentum for me. If it's in the arc, I believe I need to hit it over regardless of when it is,” Abhishek said.
