Batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal has opened up about replacing Abhishek Sharma as India opener in the ongoing T20I series against Zimbabwe. The young opener was brought into the team after Abhishek's impressive century in the second T20I. However, due to Jaiswal's late arrival from the T20 World Cup celebrations, he was initially slotted lower down the order. Despite a modest score of 36 in his first match of the series, Jaiswal has since cemented his place as an opener.
Jaiswal emphasised the camaraderie within the Indian team and his eagerness to learn from his teammates, including Abhishek Sharma. The young opener praised Sharma's exceptional century, acknowledging his talent.

“We all are mates and we all are learning from each other and we’re really enjoying each other’s company. I think it’s just incredible the way he played and the way he scored his century,” Jaiswal told Sony Sports after the match.

Yashasvi Jaiswal played a pivotal role in India's dominant 10-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the fourth T20I. The young opener unleashed a blistering innings of 93* off just 53 balls, studded with 13 fours and two sixes. His exceptional knock powered India to a chase of 153 in a mere 15.2 overs, securing an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series. Jaiswal was ably supported by captain Shubman Gill, who contributed with an unbeaten half-century of his own. Gill's knock of 58* off 39 balls, including six fours and two sixes, complemented Jaiswal's innings perfectly, resulting in a record-breaking 156-run partnership for the opening wicket.
Jaiswal was adjudged the Player of the match for this outstanding batting. At the post-match presentation he said that his plan was to take on the bowlers and stay till the end.
“I really enjoyed my batting today. I had my plans for different bowlers. The ball was coming on when it was new and as it got old, it was quite slow. I enjoyed batting with Shubman. Initially I was thinking to take on the bowlers and as the innings progressed, I thought how to build the innings and stay till the end,” Jaiswal said at the post-match presentation.
Meanwhile, having already sealed the series, India will look to win the last game as well as they take on Zimbabwe in the fifth and final T20I on Sunday, July 14 at the same venue.
